The NS Federation of Labour, the Westray Families Group, The United Steelworkers Union and the Museum of Industry are partnering to deliver a series of activities to commemorate this important anniversary. Here are the highlights:
06:45: Gather at Summer Street Industries, Summer St., New Glasgow, for procession to Their Light Shall Always Shine Park.
07:00.: Memorial Service at the Park
07:30.: Return to Summer Street Industries for refreshments
14:00 – 17:00: special Westray exhibit at the Museum of Industry – free admission
16:30: Book signing New Glasgow library, Tom Sandborn, Hell’s History. The USW’s fight to prevent workplace deaths and injuries from the 1992 Westray Mine disaster through 2016
19:00: Service at Their Light Shall Always Shine Park.
20:00: Reception, Museum of Industry
