Steam, ink and sawdust
Print Shop: Hot off the press! Long before the Internet, hand-operated printing presses kept people up-to-date on the news. Our Print Shop demonstrations give you an up-close look at letterpress printing. You can even print your own bookmark to take home.
Machine Shop: In the 1800s, the Age of Steam brought railroads and factories to Nova Scotia. Demonstrations of our belt-driven machine shop open a window on how things were made over 100 years ago.
Sawmill: Join Steven, our interpreter, who will show you the stages logs go through to become lumber. Steven’s stories of work in Nova Scotia’s lumber mills add a personal touch.
Demo times change daily. Call the Museum at 902-755-5425 for details and times.
