Although we still have work to do to be more accessible to persons who are blind/low vision and persons with hearing-impairments, we provide an accessible experience for visitors with mobility challenges. To welcome you, we offer:
- Accessible parking adjacent to the front entrance
- Our main door is equipped with a power opener
- Accessible and gender-neutral washrooms
- Wheelchair height admissions / gift shop counter
- Ramps in the exhibit galleries
- 35,000 square feet of exhibits on one level
- Elevator to our mezzanine level to view out feature exhibit “Coal & Grit”
- Ample seating throughout the exhibit galleries and gift shop
- Spacious exhibits with pathways a minimum of 4’ wide
- Wheelchair height signage
- One wheelchair available for visitor use (first come, first serve)
- Assistance dogs: guide dogs, hearing and assistance dogs are welcome throughout the museum
- Fire alarms include both auditory and visual signals
