“Our Climate Quest Small Steps to Big Change”

Program Highlights

Teachers and students in Grades P to 12 can learn about our rapidly changing environment by visiting Our Climate Quest: Small Steps to Big Change, a special exhibit at the Museum of Industry from February 6 to June 22, 2025.  Led by Museum staff, students encounter the causes and consequences of climate change and learn how their choices affect our environment. The program includes a practical activity that encourages students to take action to protect our environment.

Admission for “Our Climate Quest: Small Steps to Big Change” school programs is FREE for all Grade 8 class groups.

Curriculum Outcome Links for Grade 8 Science:

  • Learners will evaluate oceanographic and other evidence of climate change
  • Learners will evaluate the impact of human activity on climate change
  • Learners will formulate a plan to mitigate the effects of climate change

2 classes (60 students maximum)      1 chaperone for every 10 students

Program Outline

Two program offerings:

  1. Fast Fashion: How do we shop? (grades 7 to 12)            

Students will learn practical skills to extend the life of their clothing through simple repairs. Includes engaging with hands-on activities in the exhibit.

  1.  Sprouting Seeds: How do we eat? (grades P – 6)           

Students will learn how to grow plants from kitchen scraps, promoting sustainable eating habits. Includes engaging with hands-on activities in the exhibit.
