As part of the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the Westray Mine Disaster, we offer this special exhibit. It recalls the events of May 9, 1992 when a devastating explosion ripped through a Nova Scotia coal mine, killing all 26 miners working underground. It highlights the search for justice that followed. But most importantly, it remembers the men who died, the anguish of their families, and the reaction of the local and the Canadian communities. A special Wall of Remembrance invites you to pause and reflect 25 years later.
This exhibit is sponsored in part by the Towns of New Glasgow, Stellarton, Trenton and Westville, and the Municipality of Pictou County, NS Workers’ Compensation Board, Labour and Advanced Education, and Support4Culture, a designated lottery program of the NS Provincial Lotteries and Casino Corp.
